Effluent Treatment Plant Operator – Full time Position

DES is seeking an Effluent Treatment Plant Operator at our Timmins operations for a full time position.
The Ideal Candidate will possess:
Experience working in Industrial Establishments.
Experience collecting water samples and performing environmental monitoring.
Experience with Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with SCADA systems (e.g. RSLogix, IFix, etc.).
Experience with water level logger management (e.g. installation, data collection and processing, etc.)
Journeyman Electrician or Instrumentation Certificate is a huge asset.
Excellent mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
Well-developed analytical, evaluative and problem solving skills.
Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills.
Self-motivator and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Valid and clean class G driver’s licence.
Boating licence and boating experience.
ATV and ATV operation experience.
Duties will include:
Operating the Lime Treatment Plant (LTP) to maintain Acid Collection Pond (ACP) water levels within operating parameters and final effluent quality within allowable discharge limits, as prescribed by the site Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA).
Ensuring LTP inspections and maintenance for mechanical, instrumentation and electrical are performed as required and that the required critical spares are available.
Winter snow plowing, when possible, to maintain site access to all required access points.
Performs LTP equipment repairs or replacement as necessary, when safe to do so.
Perform or assist with completion of monthly Health and Safety inspections.
Collecting required surface and groundwater samples and other field data according to an established schedule based on regulatory and internal requirements.
Ensure collected samples are prepared, sealed and delivered as required.
Ensuring the integrity of the SCADA system through operation, monitoring and maintenance as required.
Ensuring lime and other reagent requirements for the LTP are met and that coordination and good communications amongst the Supplier, Operations Superintendent and delivery personnel are maintained.
Provide input for monthly, quarterly and annual reports in relation LTP operation, pumping station activities and water quality results. This includes, but is not limited to, water quality data entry and daily activity summaries.
Assist with maintenance and review of Operating Manuals and Procedures.
Report any public complaints, concerns, incidents, accidents or near misses in a timely fashion as required by DES and client.
Provide site orientation, direction and oversight and ensure safety conformance for any contract or company workers performing work at the Kam Kotia site.
On-call to respond to site alarm conditions at all times.
