Decommissioning at Shebandowan Mine, Shebandowan, Ontario
Client: INCO Limited
In 2001, Denison Environmental Services (DES) was awarded a contract to remove the friction hoist, demolish the Headframe and construct 10 permanent mine closures at the Shebandowan site. Several of the caps were massive and two were located on islands. Our crews also recovered other major assets prior to successful demolition of the headframe by explosives.
The Shebandowan Project included:
- Hazardous materials abatement
- Asset Evaluation and Sales
- Hoists Removal
- Demolition
- Metals Recycling
- 10 Mine Openings were permanently closed
- Site Contouring and Revegetation
