Coppercorp Mill Demolition and PCB Removal north of Sault Ste. Marie, ON for MNDM

Denison Environmental Services Setting the standard

In early 2003 the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines awarded the cleanup of the Coppercorp Site to DES. This included not only the demolition of the mill complex, but 7 permanent mine closures and proper decommissioning of the on-site PCB Storage Facility.

After mobilizing in February, DES crews efficiently removed asbestos containing siding from both of the structures and set about the demolition. Concurrently crews were constructing the mine closures. With a tight time frame excellent progress was achieved in very difficult weather conditions. All of the work was completed several days ahead of the March 31st deadline.
